From Wednesday, come along to The Nottingham New Theatre and be transported to the heart of 1960′s Paris.

Self-styled Parisian lothario Bernard, has got three fiancees; each an air hostess for a different airline. Bernard always has ‘one up, one down and one pending’, until unexpected schedule changes bring all three to his apartment at the same time. Leaving his old school friend Robert and his beleaguered housekeeper Bertha to attempt to diffuse the inevitable chaos.

Will you be Team Gloria, Team Gabriella or Team Gretchen?

Three fiances, three airlines and a storm over the Atlantic. What could possibly go wrong?

Boeing-Boeing is the most performed French play throughout the world and this translation by Beverley Cross and Francis Evans has been used for multi-award winning runs on the West End and Broadway and the Nottingham New Theatre version is sure to be a hit.

Performances will run from Wednesday 12th June to Saturday 15th June in the Nottingham New Theatre on University Park Campus. Doors are at 7pm each evening (show beginning at 7.30pm) and at 2pm for the Saturday matinee (show beginning at 2.30pm).

The first performances of Shakespeare’s plays happened after only a couple of days of rehearsal. The result was raw, precarious and no-doubt thrilling as Shakespeare’s words found their first life in front of an audience.

Now, with a box of kid’s toys, 14 superb actors and 48 hours to rehearse, Fine Frenzy Theatre attempt to rediscover that same immediacy with Shakespeare’s shortest, funniest, most downright insane play.

Things could go horribly wrong. Or they could go horribly, horribly right…

This ambitious adaptation of Mary Shelley’s classic Gothic novel follows Victor, the ambitious young scientist as he slowly descends into madness and illness once his experiments into resurrecting the dead go terribly wrong. This atmospheric adaptation of Shelley’s tragic novel features a large cast, with a musical chorus performing elements of dance, physical theatre and acapella song.

This production presents the story of Alice, a modern thirteen year old girl, who strives to leave the path of childish ignorance. The modern world interweaves with the traditional fairytale creating a ghostly parallel of Alice’s experience. Be entertained by a play which harnesses an original style including ensemble sequences, singing and stylised characterisations and will move you and make you laugh as we discover that reality does not always guarantee happy endings.

Frankenstein Presents: ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE
The Zombie Apocalypse has arrived and taken over campus! Enter you, thrown into this mad, scary and dangerous world with no rules and little safety.Meet at the Theatre entrance between 8:30pm and 9:30pm to meet your fate.

They’re aggressive, unpredictable and very very sneaky- creeping up on you when you least expect it with potentially fatal consequences…Follow the directions of the survivors you meet along the way to lead you the the end point and to safety. On arrival you’ll have to donate £3 to the first survivor.

You’ll be met by a survivor of the first zombie attack who will direct you to your first safe point, but beware ZOMBIES ARE ON THE LOOSE!!

Pub Quiz is Life Fundraiser

Next week, Richard Bean’s Pub Quiz is Life hits the New Theatre stage and the cast and crew cordially invite you along to a fundraiser!
You will be led through the quiz by Hull’s finest punters; the cast of Pub Quiz! But don’t expect to have merely questions thrown at you. yes, it is indeed the return of the much heralded pub quiz challenge, so expect numerous games and challenges mixed in with the questions.

Food will be served until 9 if anyone’s peckish, come to the pub from 8, the quiz will start around 9pm.

Entry is just £3, and it will take place at the Royal Children pub on Maid Marian Way. It’d be great to see you all there, it’ll be a great laugh as these pub challenges always are. See you all there!

After a fantastic, long, snowy and incredibly rewarding week; our members have now returned (all 47 of them!) with an unprecedented seven awards for our efforts at the festival!

These include three individual awards for acting, an accolade for an outstanding set design, a award for the entire Jerusalem company for being the Best Ensemble, an award for the best student director at the festival and a special commendation from the Deputy Editor of The Sunday Times which went to Eloise Hyde (Memory of Water)  for stepping in and performing admirably at the last minute when an actress was too ill to perform at the festival.

We are hugely proud of everyone involved in the selected productions and all of those who helped along the way!

We must also give a huge thank you for all of the support from the judges, selectors and technical team at the festival. It was wonderful to meet so many exciting and talented, individuals and student companies throughout the week.

Prepare to be spooked this week by the second UNCUT show of the season: Osama the Hero by Dennis Kelly

Gary isn’t a terrorist; At least, not yet. Four of his neighbours disagree however, and so he finds himself strapped to a chair and given an ultimatum “I want you to nod that you did it. If you don’t Mark’s going to smash you in the teeth with this hammer. D’you understand?”

A completely gripping, gruesome and utterly hilarious examination of post 9/11 Britain, you will find yourselves locked in the dark and subjected to some of Dennis Kelly’s (After the End, Orphans and most recently Utopia on Channel 4) most thought provoking work. Who are the ‘terrorists’? And more importantly, does it really matter?

Performances are on Sunday 17th and Monday 18th March

Also this week: Audition for a role in Edinburgh!

The NNT will be returning to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this coming August with two unique productions: ‘Paradise’ and ‘The Project’.
Auditions are being held this Thursday and Friday (14th & 15th) in the Studio and Rehearsal room.
Edinburgh is a fantastic opportunity for any actor, not only to be involved in one of these dynamic productions, but also to experience performing at the Festival.
It is undoubtedly one of the very best opportunities the theatre has to offer.

Starting this Wednesday is Willy Russell’s ‘Stags and Hens’. A comedy with a poignant commentary on the dilemma of societal expectations as relevant today as it when it was conceived, in 1978. Linda and Dave are supposedly getting married, and it’s the night of their Stag and Hen parties respectively, hilarity ensues.

WASTED by Kate Tempest

Also this week, we are very excited to be welcoming Paines Plough, the UK’s national theatre of new plays, to the Nottingham New Theatre Stage for one night only!

They’ll be performing their critically acclaimed production of WASTED by Kate Tempest.

WASTED is the debut play by poet and rapper Kate Tempest. Following a critically acclaimed 42 date national tour and sold-out run at London’s Roundhouse, WASTED is back on tour and heading to our very own little Nottingham New Theatre….

I’m making a decision. I’m changing things. This is it.

Three old friends. One remarkable day. For Ted, Danny and Charlotte, life will never be the same again.

A day glo trip through the parks and raves and cafes of South London, where life is what you make it. The words of Kate Tempest paint a picture of lives less ordinary in an unforgiving world, soundtracked by an exhilarating score.

A play about life, love and losing your mind.

This one-off performance will be taking place on Thursday 7th March at 9:45pm – right after that evening’s performance of our (equally brilliant) Main Season show, Stags and Hens by Willy Russell, which will be starting slightly earlier than normal at 7pm. Tickets for WASTED will be £5.

So, you can either can come to see both productions on that night (a special dual-ticket will be available at a discount rate of just £8 for members OR you spread out your theatrical delights for the week and see Stags and Hens another evening. If you would like the dual ticket, please make this clear in your e-mail to boxoffice@newtheatre.org.uk

Every year we take one or more shows up to the festival and they are consistently hugely successful.

If you have an idea for a show that could be taken up to the festival please get in touch with Will our Festivals and Uncut Coordinator by sending an email to: edinburgh@newtheatre.org.uk for. He’ll be able to give you lots of useful advice about structuring your proposal and how the proposals session will run.

How proposals will work?

Each show will be allocated 15 minutes in total. This will consist of a 5 minute presentation and 10 minutes for questions.
