BEEF
Written by Rose Williams
Performance: 15:45 C Soco

“I don’t know what you think is going to happen, it’s just a bit of rain”
Rachel waits at home for her husband, Mark. She’s going to tell him that she’s leaving him. But severe flooding means Rachel isn’t going anywhere. Throughout the night strangers arrive in unusual and unexplained circumstances, seeking refuge from the storm. As tensions and water levels rise, Mark reveals a secret that will change their world forever.
This summer, Nottingham’s New Theatre presents Beef at the Edinburgh Fringe. The play focuses on Mark’s newfound responsibility and the challenge of convincing others of what he knows about the fate of mankind. But will they believe him?
The playwright’s sharp and perceptive characterisation comes alive as the strangers are forced to interact in surreal circumstances. Realistic and dynamic writing interwoven with devised ensemble work makes Beef a fresh, unique and inspiring new drama.

Chasing Dragons

“What do you see when you close your eyes?”
Edward Maris is a successful fantasy fiction novelist. He lives alone in his enormous house. He has stopped writing. To the growing dismay of his psychiatrist, Edward has begun to retreat not only from the world outside his house, but from the world itself…
This summer, Nottingham University’s award-winning New Theatre is proud to present Chasing Dragons, a show which explores the nature of heroism and the importance of faith. Watch as Edward becomes deeper entrenched in the increasingly real world of his novels and as his own world crumbles into a far more colourful, adventurous and dangerous one.
A tale of misguided morality, of courage and of reconciliation, with production elements that include ambitious large-scale puppetry and song, this is a show that is at once charming, witty and thoughtful.
