The New Theatre is in serious danger! The University is planning to demolish the Archaeology and Classics building, and there are no plans to build a Newer Theatre. The current Committee are reacting to this but the time will come when we will call on you for support! Please send an e-mail to our Secretary, Eliana, at sunewtheatre@nottingham.ac.uk with your details to register your support. Thank you.
The New Theatre at Nottingham has launched the careers of numerous successful actors, playwrights, directors, designers, technicians and producers. However, we know very little about them! If you are an alumni and consider yourself to be illustrious (no modesty allowed!) please get in touch with us. E-mail our Secretary, Nick, at secretary@newtheatre.org.uk with full details of your career, and details of any of your peers that have gone on to great things.
Three University of Nottingham graduates have won a BAFTA at the Children's Film and TV Awards for their cult cartoon The Amazing Adrenalini Brothers.
Mark Huckerby, Nick Ostler and Dan Chambers came up with the idea for the animated TV series about a talentless circus trio, while performing at The New Theatre at the University in 1993.
Billing themselves as "a crap tumbling act" in tight shorts and big wigs, the former students also performed at the Edinburgh Fringe. Since leaving the University they have enjoyed widespread success writing comedy for various broadcasters and they have achieved a growing reputation as top class animation scriptwriters.
"The idea was born in Nottingham," said Mark, "the first time we performed it was as a sketch during our revue at the University, sweaty leotards and all."
Nick studied Politics while Mark and Dan did American Studies. They now write and perform under the name POX and created the original idea for the cartoon which was further developed by co-production partners Pesky Ltd.
With a catchphrase of Yahzaa! The Amazing Adrenalini Brothers are a talentless trio of circus daredevils, Xan, Adi and Enk, forever risking life and limb in a series of hell raising, death-defying stunts and capers.
They come from a little-known country called Rendoosia, (where danger is a way of life) in the dark heart of Europe and speak a gobbledygook language.
It's already an award-winning cartoon series with a cult following among children and adults and is currently being shown on CITV on Saturday mornings at 9.40am.
Pesky Ltd have sold the show to more than 50 countries worldwide including broadcasters in Australia, America, Canada, Asia and most of Europe.

Paul was Secretary of New Theatre in the late 90s. He is now a stand-up comedian, actor and script-writer. His credits include co-writing The Lee Mack Show for BBC Radio 2 and numerous stand-up gigs for which he attracts rave reviews. For the sake of being succinct, we will reproduce here the shortest: said Ricky Gervais - 'f**king funny!' He is currently researching two new shows.

Owen graduated last year but already has a very impressive C.V. In October last year he worked alongside the esteemed playwright Mark Ravenhill, and he has recently been appointed Festival Stage Manager for Ribchester Festival of Music and Art for the 2007 Festival, which will include performances by Julian Lloyd Webber and Alfie Boe. He will soon travel to Cuba on a research trip for a play due to be performed at this year's Edinburgh Fringe.
It appears that Katie was heavily involved with New Theatre. She is currently playing the part of Nessarose in 'Wicked', a musical in the West End.
