I’m delighted to announce some great news about the future of the New Theatre. As some of you might be aware, the University plans to knock down the whole of the Archeology and Classics building within the next few years, and that includes our lovely building…
However the University has now pledged to replace the Theatre, thus ensuring its continued existence. We are so fortunate to have our own theatre, we are of course the only student-run theatre in England, and we are absolutely delighted that we will continue to have this amazing set-up in the future.
Massive thanks are extended to the SU, and particularly Dave Willey, who has worked very hard on our behalf to secure this pledge from the University hierarchy. Thanks also to the University for realising the importance of the New Theatre. So many people’s time at this Uni is made by the friends formed, and the experiences had, at the NT, and the quality of our theatre is reflected by our amazing achievements at the NSDF this year and the fantastic quality of all the shows so far. It seems no coincidence that the most successful universities at the NSDF were Nottingham and Edinburgh, the only two student run theatre’s in the UK.
A big thank you to all members of the NT as well… It is thanks to everyone who is involved in any way in any show, or who comes to watch any play, that this theatre is what it is, and that it will continued to be so highly valued by the SU and University.
