The New Theatre is proud to announce that its Technical Manager, Matt Leventhall, has been elected Societies Officer on the Students’ Union Executive next year. He will be responsible for all of the University’s societies. This job is currently done by Emily Medhurst, the New Theatre’s Social Secretary. Matt’s power will not extend to the New Theatre, as we are an SRS (Student Run Service), however, another New Theatre member, Elle Hosie, director of two plays at New Theatre, has been elected SRS officer. Elle will be responsible for all the SRSs, including New Theatre, Karni, URN, Nightline and Impact. Given the imminent threat to the New Theatre’s future – with the University planning to demolish the building within the next three years – it is consoling to know that we will have more New Theatre members treading the corridors of power next year.
